Remembering The Past and Discussing Present

From the beginning…

I have a huge family but my immediate family is of four.  My parents have been married for 30 something years and I have a younger brother, 21.  We are extremely close and very old fashioned when it comes to careers – meaning job security, insurance, and retirement are extremely important.  I have worked hard to get where I am in life (career, education, lifestyle, friends) and am very thankful to have such a strong family to continue to motivate me and inspire me.

I am recently engaged to Justin Pogge.  I truly believe in fate!  He is the love of my life and extremely loving and supportive.  I could not have asked for a better man.  It all started when Justin was playing for the Anaheim Ducks and attended a charity dinner called Ducks In Tux. HIS POINT OF VIEW:  I had the chance to be a part of a charity event called “Ducks in Tux”.  We had to serve dinner for the season ticket holders in a ballroom atmosphere.  I will always remember this dinner because it is where I first laid eyes on my future wife.  The story goes like this.  There was a silent auction for our pocket squares which had our jersey number on them.  I shared a ballet box with Matt Belesky.  I knew that to get people to bid on our squares I was going to have to walk around and sell.   While walking around, I came across this beautiful blonde hair green eyed girl.  I was too shy to walk right up to her so I walked up to her parents and got them to submit a bid. I was then introduced to Christina and I asked her if she would be my Vanna White and help me with my box.  I didn’t see her for the rest of dinner.  When the dinner was finished we got to mingle, that’s when I found Christina again.  We talked for a while and I ended up getting her number… the rest is history.  I asked her to marry me four years later.

The rest is history —
We have been traveling for both of our careers ever since.  After years of living, working, and playing in the states, currently, we are living in Sweden for Justin’s hockey career while I am able to work and finish my education.  In the summer, we live in Los Angeles.  This summer will be extremely busy with our two day wedding taking place.
My family has a vacation home in Arizona – where we spend some time as well wakeboarding, surfing …etc we are definitely active, sporty, and competitive.  I used to play soccer (all my life). We LOVE NASCAR – My parents raised my brother and I since diapers at a couple tracks.  My family currently has an infield spot at the Speedway in Fontana (ever since they opened) and it may be redneck, but don’t knock it until you’ve tried it – its a blast!!  We also take trips to BC – Canada (where Justin is from) to spend time with family and friends.

Last year, after the lockout, was our first year abroad we lived in Italy and were able to spend a lot of time together and travel.  I will post about our previous trips to Italy, Switzerland, France… and the many more trips we plan on taking… (as well as pictures).
Hope this is good for a starter – I will continue to post more and more!

  1. Hey Christina! I just found your blog from the hockey wives Facebook group- I have my own, so naturally creeped on your blog. I love this story- its actually fairly similar to how my husband (Nick Angell- same league as Justin last year) and I met! So nice to hear your story, and have another active American blogger over in Sweden. Good luck this upcoming season, and enjoy the rest of your summer! (ps- my blog is hockey wife hockey life!)

  2. Hi Samantha! Thank you for creeping! That is so awesome… I am going to check out your blog as well! Where do you and your husband live during the off-season? Best of luck to you both in the next coming season and hopefully you are able to take in as much sun as possible before heading back to Sweden for the winter. The hardest adjustment for me happens to be the dark winters 😦

  3. We live in Minneapolis- I'm from here and he was from about 2 hours away. Winter is definitely dark there- but its only a small change for me being from Minnesota! I'm sure this year will be more dark now that we are moving further up North. Have a great summer, and looking forward to connecting more with ya!
